Non-Profit Community Service Organization
Women's Football
The Brownsville Sting 501c3 is a non-profit charity organization in Brownsville, Tx. The organization is most known for their female full-contact football team called The Brownsville Sting, however, can also be found routinely participating in community events, such as Sombrero Festival, the Charro Days Parade, Brownsville Beer Fest, and others.
Apart from participating in the community, the Brownsville Sting hosts two clinics for the community throughout the year, free of charge. The goal of the community clinics is to improve the health and wellness of the community-which is the true mission of the organization. The second annual Brownsville Sting Youth Field Day was held in June of 2023 and was an awesome experience, both for the kids and for our organization!
The Rio Grande Valley is comprised of predominantly Mexican-American individuals who are at a greater risk of being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and obesity. The estimated prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes in the Rio Grande Valley is 30% compared to 10% for the rest of the state of Texas! It is also important to note that obesity is a risk factor associated with Type 2 Diabetes.
The situation is not hopeless - Health authorities report that adopting a healthy lifestyle can prevent and control Type 2 Diabetes. The Brownsville Sting recognizes this community problem and, for this reason, has made improving health and wellness its mission.
Join our women's full contact football team and learn all about the beautiful sport! No experience is necessary!
